Kelly and I went geocaching in Huntsville and picked up a star trek travel bug. as fate would have it the TB was actually damaged so we are gonna mail it back to it's owner so he can fix it :)
we are gonna drop these off in a new cache this weekend too!
well, my gps arrived so i tried to go this evening to a local cache...but as fate would have it there was 6 high school kids (emo ftw) who were all but sitting right on top of where I needed to start my search ... so i had to pass on it for today as it would not be cool for them to muggle it ... and i had a sneaking suspicion that they would ...
i headed to another cache locally but the notes asked not to search after dark and it was starting to get late so i looked around for a few minutes and then headed out
so far the caches have beaten me, but not for long ...
what is geocaching (or geocaching )you ask? well, it's basically a game you play with your gps to find stuff that people have hidden ... i know i am years late getting into it, but better late than never...
now for the tech section...what gps did i get you ask? well, i got a refurbished GPSMAP 60CSx which is pretty awesome and has a section for geocaching, so hopefully with a little more practice i will start finding them
i am sick with some sort of strep like thing ... it sucks a lot
well, just a quick update ... i have taken the laptop apart (mostly) and am now at the phase where i get a shadow box ... but the code is in place to run the frame so progress is being made ...
i am just finishing up some web server stress tests ... the findings are not at all what i thought they would be ...
i have decided that instead of buying a digital picture frame that i will make one out of my old old ibm thinkpad and linux ... if only there wasn't that one dead pixel ... it'll be good practice at any rate in case i decide to try another one with a slightly larger display ...

so i spent most of my day tracking down the cause of a bug in some code (well, in the many thousands of lines of code) that i wrote ...
the good news is i am pretty damned sure i got it taken care of this time ... the bad news is it took me most of the workday to get it done as i had other things i had planned on having implemented by now.
however, launching a new site always means putting out little fires all over the place ... now hopefully this fire will not come up again ... but we shall see
well, today we had a relaunch of racingdirect.com as we revamped some things to bring it up to a level for being green lighted.
I worked on a backend way of handling shipping with GoogleCheckout since they do things in a different kind of way ...

well, the check arrived ... and not a moment to soon as my car just went to the shop. something tells me that $600 is headed directly to my mechanic now.
oh well, at least i have a $600 head start now ... cause after all, it's just money
well, i got the car towed to eurotech today ... happily the car was just high enough from the ground to not scrape but it sure was close ...
